  39. At the September UUASC OC meeting, member Dallas Legan will present a talk
  40. on Kermit, the data communication program from Columbia University. He
  41. plans to cover the Kermit file transfer protocol and the C-Kermit
  42. (and derivatives) scripting language. Dallas said, "You might summarize
  43. C-Kermit as a general 'telecommunications shell'. It is comparable to
  44. SQL or EMACS as a powerful, special purpose tool."
  45.  
  46. This is the first in a series of talks Mr. Legan is preparing to do
  47. (next month may be a continuation of this talk).

  49. The UUASC OC Chapter has a new president, Ron Petty. Speaking of this
  50. meeting, Ron said, "This is also a watershed in the UUASC OC chapter,
  51. as this is my first meeting under my tenure. I have procurred restrooms,
  52. water and vending machines from Printronix (thank you Scott of Printronix
  53. for the room). I may bring donuts and coffee in spite of the LA chapter
  54. flaming the validity of donuts at a gathering of geeks. :)

  56. "I welcome one and all in hopes of turning the OC chapter into the 600-lb
  57. gorilla of Southern California Unix Groups."
  58.  
  59. The UUASC is for all persons using Unix either personally or
  60. professionally, or interested in learning more about Unix. We recognize
  61. all varieties of Unix, including (without prejudice) SCO, Linux, SVr4,
  62. Solaris, AIX, and BSD. This is a good place to meet others with similar
  63. interests and broaden your skills and knowledge. Generally, meetings
  64. include a technical presentation on a hardware or software topic of
  65. current interest to the Unix community and a round-table discussion
  66. of current topics of interest to the group. We are always looking for
  67. interesting presentations and your suggestions are most welcome.
  68.  
  69. Please join us this month and bring along your friends or
  70. co-workers. Also, please forward this announcement to others who may
  71. be interested and feel free to post it on BBSs, both electronic and
  72. physical. If you receive more than one announcement by email, please
